The Brave Little Parrot (Four levels), Flex Golden Tales:

Literal Comprehension:

The story ‘The Brave Little Parrot’ is taken from Buddhist legend where Buddha was incarnated as a little parrot. The jungle was traumatized with terrible fire where every creature was running from one direction to another to save their life but it was impossible because the fire was spreading in every surrounding. Luckily the parrot escaped and saw the miserable condition of the entire wild animals and felt pity. With the resolution of help, parrot starts to dip into the river water and fly over the flame to stop the fire. He continues his task but few and small drops of water from the feathers of the parrot was not sufficient and that was a matter of mockery for the god. The parrot was almost getting the worst condition as his body was almost damage and eyes were ripped. After some time gods were noticed about this incident and they were laughing with the vain-full job of Parrot. But one of the kind gods came to parrot and suggested stopping his painful job before it is too late but parrot denied it with his strong dedication and hard working. The reply the parrot melted the heart of the god that was transfigured into the eagle. Due to the tears of the eagle, the flame of fire stopped and all trees got new life where none of the animals was harmed and the jungle was green as before.

Interpretation:

In the story, by giving hard-working, dedicated and kind full parrot as an example, the writer is trying to say us “Nothing is impossible” in front of extreme desire with positive motives. In the story, Parrot did his best to help other animals that were in danger. Parrot himself was in trouble as his efforts were not working as it was only a few and small drops. But ultimately his dedication, inspiration and resolution of help melted the heart of the God who had the solution of fire. So, parrot played a vital role to save the life of the entire animal in the jungle.

Critical Thinking:

Dedicated parrot is trying to inspire us to do hard work and continue labour to achieve our goal. It also motivates us to have positive thinking but we are enforced to think critically as question raise here:

1.     Does God exist in real?

2.     Is it possible to control fire by the tears of the eagle?

3.     How have seen any example of the rebirth of anything?

Assimilation:

After reading this story, I remember my father who has been going through very hard work for my education and betterment of the family who believes “Nothing is impossible” in front of hardworking with positive vibes and attitude. This story inspired me to do continuous hard work with great resolution to success any positive goal.
