Literal Comprehension:

This is a travel log (diary) made a voyage which starts with fair winds and a clear sky. The voyage had begun on 8th May. The people who were travelling were not only the good sailors but they were multi-talented, creative as they were belonging to different professions. During their journey some people read books, some play musical instruments, some were storytellers and some were excellent in cracking the jokes. Time was going in a funny way, they were enjoying until they found the rock on the island. The rock was approximately two feet area with grey in colour, flat and smooth as glass. From there, the situation got a turning point as entire people started to become busy with the rock. People turned into the ape as they stopped to care about personal hygiene and personality. They stopped every kind of creativity, fun and cooperation. That’s why the narrator planned to throw that terrible rock after getting some problem due to the storm. Though the rock was not working properly due to the lighting but the crews were unchanged so the narrator gave his full effort to keep the people in normal condition. So, on June 28, the narrator is happy to announce “Men have returned to the normal.”

Interpretation:

The writer is trying to present disadvantages of television in the diary; the writer has presented T.V as rock which is useless. Due to new technology, people have become like an ape, they are losing creativity, forgetting their responsibility and so on.

Critical Thinking:

In this metaphorical story, the writer seems very negative towards new technology; T.V so, there are some points which can make us dissatisfied with the author’s views. Television is the most relevant source of news and information as well as visual entertainment. By proper utilization of television, people are getting a different kind of knowledge, information cum news. It is the best way of cultural exchange that writer is doing totally negligence.

 Assimilation:

After reading this text, I realized that everything has merits and demerits so we must utilize available technologies, devices in a proper way no matter whether it is the most common device (mobile or any other thing). To be crazier in anything is always harmful. So,  available means and resources must be used in proper manner.
